Job Title: Cloud Engineer - Kubernetes
Location: Melbourne
Do work that matters at scale, using modern cloud platforms
Collaborate with talented teams of engineers and analysts
Join a progressive organisation with the people and policies you want
At ANZ our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive, and to achieve this we need a talented Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Platforms technology area. The Cloud Platforms technology area sits within our Infrastructure and Cloud Services Domain and builds and operates our cloud platforms.
You are (or aspire to be) a specialist in Kubernetes and Docker and have a passion for all things cloud native. You automate all the things and apply best practices in CI/CD and infrastructure automation. You (or aspire to) design, build and operate large scale container workloads across public clouds. You will likely know more than one cloud and Kubernetes offering and be able to bring experience in service meshes, networking, software, and SRE to our cloud estate - starting as always with the code.
Be the Cloud Engineer you want to be, with opportunities to work across a variety of projects used at scale across the globe. We understand that technology underpins every part of our business – cloud empowers us to be more customer-centric. Taking an idea and turning it into reality quickly. Testing and learning to deliver value continuously and incrementally for customers, shareholders, and our people.
As a Cloud Engineer, you will work on missions that excite you, including developing platforms and services which will help our customers get on top of their money while using the latest tech stacks.
We’re making ANZ a great place for engineers to grow. You’ll learn and innovate because underpinning everything we do is a Growth Mindset. We’ll challenge you to become an industry-leading engineer while supporting you in a friendly work environment.
What will your day look like
Work in a collaborative team to explore business initiatives and solutions
Build infrastructure using code and follow software engineering best practices
Utilise knowledge of containers and distributed system design including cloud scalability, communication integration, database, and storage
Challenge the status quo, whilst always looking for opportunities for continuous improvement
Forget the suit stereotype - we encourage you to dress for your day
What will you bring?
You will be a specialist in Kubernetes and Docker and have a passion for all things cloud-native, knowledge of service meshes is advantageous (i.e. Istio)
Comfortable coding in one or more languages (bash, JavaScript, Golang, Python, Powershell, etc), and you use these skills to automate as much as possible
Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform or Cloud Formation, along with continuous integration/delivery tooling such as Bitbucket/GitHub, Google Cloud Build/CodeFresh/Jenkins, etc.
You automate all the things and apply best-practices in CI/CD and infrastructure automation.
You (or aspire to) design, build and operate large scale container workloads across public clouds.
A growth mindset and desire to continually learn and share new techniques and ideas
You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture and we actively encourage people to try new things. So, if this role interests you and you feel you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.
So, why join us?
We’re reinventing the way we do banking, and our community of collaborative, innovative thinkers who create human-centred solutions are helping us get there. We’re responding faster to changing customer requirements, focusing on the things that matter.
We’ll also offer you the opportunity to develop your career, working in a diverse and inclusive workplace where the different backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences of our people are celebrated and create a great place to grow, thrive and belong.
A happy workplace is a thriving one, and some of the perks you’ll get from being a Engineer at ANZ are:
Lifestyle leave - top up your annual leave with up to four weeks of additional purchased leave, or take a longer period of unpaid time off
Great discounts on our financial products, and an annual Superannuation top up payment of $500 for all female employees to address the Superannuation gender gap
Competitive parental leave policies for both mums and dads, with a lump sum childcare contribution when you return to work
We work flexibly at ANZ and encourage you to talk to us about how this role can be flexible for you and any adjustments you may require to our recruitment process or the role itself. If you are a candidate with a disability, let us know how we can provide you with additional support.
